If you need to create a credit in Project, there are several ways to do it:
- Create an invoice proposal from the Work in Progress report , via the project flipbook or directly in the invoice proposal overview under Project/Invoice proposal/Invoice proposal
- Create a Sales Order in the Accounts Receivable module or from the FMIS. Enter the Project number and the revenue type. This method requires that the item numbers used on the credit note lines have a project type specified in the product card file.
- Create an invoice on account via sales order in the Accounts Receivable module (the type on the Order header must be an On account type) or create an on account invoice proposal from the Project module and then create a Zero invoice.
- Credit note as a copy of the issued invoice. This method is recommended if inventory management is used and the goods that have been invoiced need to be moved back into the warehouse again for the credit note. credit note. Note! This method does NOT change the total sales value of the project.
1. credit note created via invoice proposal
Create an invoice proposal from the Work in Progress report , via the project file or directly in the invoice proposal overview under Project/Invoice proposal/Invoice proposal. In the example below, the credit note is created via the Work in Progress report.- Select Project/Reports/Work in Progress
- Select the Search on tape button

- Select the Yes button
- Select the Yes button when asked if you want to go to the lines on the invoice proposal
- Enter an invoice proposal line with the amount to be credited, for example as shown below:
- Select the Create invoice button and make selections regarding credit note date (invoice date) etc.
On the project, these two entries will be created in connection with this type of credit note:
2. Credit note created via sales order (type = revenue)
Create a Sales Order in the Accounts Receivable module or from the FMIS. On the sales order, the project number must be filled in and the type on the order header must be of type 'Revenue'. This method requires that the item numbers used on the credit note lines have a project type specified in the item record, and this type must NOT be of type 'Regulation'. In the example below, the credit note is created via the Accounts Receivable module- Select Lager/Goods and create a product number as shown below if you do not already have a service product number you want to use for the credit. the credit.
Note! The project type on the item must be a cost type, e.g. labor, materials or similar.
Create multiple item numbers if you want to credit both materials, labor, etc.
- Create a sales order under Accounts receivable/Sales/Sales orders by selecting the Create order button
- Select the customer to be credited in the Account field and fill in the Project and Type fields. The type must be of the type 'Revenue'
- Select the Save & go to lines button and enter an order line as shown in the example below:
- Select the Create invoice button and make selections regarding credit note date (invoice date) etc.
On the project, these two entries will be created in connection with this type of credit note:
3. Credit note created as down payment (type = down payment)
Create an invoice on account via sales order in the Accounts Receivable module (the type on the Order header must be an On account type) or create an on account invoice proposal from the Project module and then create a Zero invoice. In the example below, the credit note is created via the work in progress report.- Select Project/Reports/Work in Progress
- Select the Search on tape button
- Place the cursor on the project to be credited and select the Create on-account proposalbutton Note! If you cannot find the project on the report, check the Include zero balance on tape box
- Select the Create button to create a new on-account proposal
- Select the Save & go to lines button and enter an invoice proposal line as shown below.
Note! If you use automatic updating of Work in Progress in Finance by sales value, it is important that you use your account item number in the line!
- Select the Create invoice button and make selections regarding credit note date (invoice date) etc.
For this type of credit note, only one entry will be created for the project:
- Jump back to the work in progress report(Project/Reports/Work in progress)
- Select the Create zero invoice button and check the Create invoice proposal box
- Select the Yes button to jump to the invoice proposal lines
- Select the Basis of posting button, uncheck the Check box next to all items other than your credit note item you just posted.
- Select the Restore order button and select OK
- Select the Create invoice button and make selections regarding zero invoice date (invoice date) etc. Note! The zero invoice should NOT be sent to the customer, so uncheck the email sending fields. On the project, the on-account credit note will be offset and recorded as "Revenue" when a Zero Invoice is created, and at the same time the credit note amount will be booked as an adjustment.
4. Credit note created as a copy of the invoice
This method is recommended if inventory management is used and the goods that have been invoiced need to be moved back into the warehouse for the credit note. the credit note. Note that this method does NOT change the total sales value of the project.- Select Accounts receivable/Reports/Invoices
- Place the cursor on the invoice to be credited
- Select the Create order button and check the Reverse sign box and select the OK button
- Select the Yes button to jump to the order lines
- Select the Create invoice button and make selections regarding credit note date (invoice date) etc.
For this type of credit note, a minimum of two entries will be created on the project. One line with the type Revenue and the credit note amount in the Sales valuefield .
One project entry will also be created per line on the invoice, corresponding to the lines on the credit note where the actual costs are reversed.
I.e. the sum of the sales value of the project entries in connection with such a credit note = 0.
